Wisconsin Government Tax Waste UPDATE: 08/11/2012 Dear Representative Wynn, I see that after a long time of waste the Unemployment Insurance division has at long last stopped wasting millions of taxpayer dollars mailing frivolous letters. To Quote: "To create efficiencies and reduce costs, the direct deposit notice will be discontinued as of 8/13/2012. Visit unemployment.wisconsin.gov or call 800-494-4944 to check if your payment was sent. Check with your financial institution to confirm your payment was deposited." My original video bringing attention to this matter: Video ulr here (2 minutes and 15 seconds) This video was posted just 2 days before I wrote you regarding this matter. Also, I had written and was published in the Janesville Gazette with these concerns. Now, I would like to claim a Governmental Waste Finders Fee. (0.1% of the 1st year savings. I've asked for this in the YouTube video, my original letter to you, and my editorial letter that was published in The Janesville Gazette.). I will of course pay and taxes in connection with this. Thank You! Mark Meacham On 2/29/2012 5:14 PM, Rep.Wynn wrote: Dear Mark, Thanks for bringing to my attention the potential for reducing millions of dollars in waste in state government. Please accept my apologies for my delayed response, part of the fault is with the Unemployment Insurance Division (which lost my original request for more information) and part of the fault is with my office for not properly following up on the request. After reviewing the information you brought to my attention, I agree that your conclusion has the possibility of saving the state millions of dollars. I have brought this to the Unemployment Insurance's attention, and they agree that this has good potential. I am currently working on a number of reforms to the Unemployment Insurance laws in Wisconsin, and I think that this could be something good to include. The Unemployment Insurance Division also asked me to pass along their official response, which is below: "Under Governor Walker's administration, the state of Wisconsin has established a Waste, Fraud and Abuse Task Force to identify and implement efficiencies that will save taxpayer dollars. One of the items forwarded to this council was a recommendation to examine our agency's use of postage. As you noted, we have an opportunity to potentially reduce our expenses and provide agency services more efficiently. "Our Unemployment Insurance division has been examining how we can reduce postal mailings to those claimants who are receiving their benefits by direct deposit. We share your sentiment that these mailings can be greatly reduced without a corresponding reduction in service and we will work to find cost savings in this instance and throughout our agency. "As one example of our desire to provide services more efficiently, more than half of those receiving unemployment insurance over the last year were able to file a weekly claim over the internet, saving thousands of dollars in costs and enabling our employees to assist an increased number of customers customers without increasing staff. "I would encourage you to continue to share your ideas for how this agency and others can continue to better serve Wisconsin taxpayers. We appreciate your input." I will keep this on my radar and see what actions the UI division takes. Again, thank you for contacting me regarding this issue. If there is anything else I can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact me again. Sincerely, Evan Wynn Wisconsin's 43rd Assembly District

No matter where you live in Wisconsin, chances are there is a magical landscape nearby with fresh water glistening on it or running through it. But, some in our Dairy State are concerned that run off from cow manure is harming our lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater. What if we could not only calm those concerns but we could actually turn this waste into a resource for Wisconsin communities and for farming communities worldwide? What if we could lead the world by innovating sustainable technologies and applications that help to grow one of our state’s most vibrant industries; a solution that unleashes economic development in our rural communities; protects our state’s natural resources with freshwater solutions that are valuable throughout the world and; what if we could do all this at the same time? By finding innovative ways to convert waste into resource we will create jobs in science, technology and manufacturing that put Wisconsinites to work. These state-of-the-art solutions will light up communities throughout our state with clean power and economic development and the products and knowhow developed right here in Wisconsin will light up our exports to countries throughout the world. Imagine creating a network of regional pipelines transporting methane biogas from anaerobic digesters installed at dairies, livestock producers and central collection points to power plants generating low cost electricity for Wisconsin communities; biofuels for trucks and farm vehicles and; ammonium nitrate and organic fertilizers for commercial and retail distribution nationwide. Imagine being at the epicenter of the explosion of freshwater technologies that make every drop of this precious resource count – solutions that are not only valuable for a state like ours that is nearly surrounded by freshwater, but pure gold to communities where freshwater is very hard to find. We see a bright future for Wisconsin and it is powered, in part, by waste.

From 10,000 adorable baby chicks to disgusting salmon guts spilled on the road these are the top 16 weirdest cargo truck spills. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10. Bread and Deli Meat In an event that sounds like something out of a commercial a bread truck and a truck carrying deli meat collided on a highway in New Jersey in June of this year. No injuries were reported at the scene but thousands of potential sandwiches were lost in the wreck. Hundreds of sandwich-related jokes were also utilized by the media outlets who reported the accident. 9. Chicks A big rig transporting hundreds of Miss U.S.A contestants overturned on a highway in Nebraska… no this didn’t really happen but something almost as bizarre happened in eastern China last year. According to the People’s Daily Online, a truck carrying ten thousand baby chickens overturned on a highway. Locals quickly scrambled to the scene and took as many chicks as they possibly could. The load was said to be worth nearly $8,000. 8. Animal Waste Road clean-up crew members have tough, unenviable jobs. This was never more apparent than it was to a crew in Green Bay, Wisconsin late last month. A Sanimax truck carrying its load of animal waste spilled its load all over a street on the west side of the city. No one was injured in the accident, which took place in the middle of the day. Sanimax is a company that takes waste from the meat packing industry and recycles it to be used in cosmetic and food products. 7. Used Vegetable Oil Another Sanimax truck was involved in an accident in Wisconsin in April of this year. This time, the cargo was much less disgusting. Four thousand seven hundred gallons of used vegetable oil spilled all over Highway 51 when a tanker turned over while driving through a roundabout. No injuries occurred and the driver was cited for driving too fast for the conditions. A milk truck turned over at the exact same roundabout last year. 6. Mackerel Residents of the Northern Irish town of Belfast were scrambling for giant plastic bags after a truck carrying tons of mackerel overturned early in 2015. The lorry lost the fish and did not stop, perhaps not realizing that anything had fallen out. Officials warned residents not to eat the fish, but this did not stop many locals from collecting the mackerel in plastic bags and taking them home. 5. Potatoes Big rig truck driving can be extremely dangerous. Drivers have deadlines to make which often forces them to drive with little to no sleep. This leads to thousands of accidents involving trucks annually. One of the most memorable to occur this year took place in North Carolina. The driver of the truck fell asleep early in the morning and his trailer flipped over, spilling 50,000 potatoes all over Interstate 77. With no better alternative, clean-up crews were forced to use snow plows to clean the fallen spuds. 4. Beer and Chips While not as comedically perfect as a bread and deli meat truck colliding, this incident is still worth its weight in laughs. The two trucks collided on Interstate 95 in Florida in March of this year. Neither driver was hurt in the incident, but one was ticketed for failure to maintain a single lane. The beer truck was seared open and cans of beer and bags of chips covered the highway. 3. Salmon Guts A semi-truck heading down the 101 north near Ilwaco, Washington tipped over and spilled its load of salmon heads and guts all over the highway in October of 2012. The load was heading from a rendering plant to a feline food factory when the trailer lost its balance after a hard curve in the road. Though the highway was forced to close until the sloshy mess was removed, the driver was unharmed and able to walk away from the incident. 2. Live Fish A big rig crashed into a road barrier in the Chinese province of Hubei on January 8, 2015, spilling its contents of nearly ten thousand pounds of live fish. The driver had been traveling all day and cited exhaustion as the cause of the accident. Video of the bizarre aftermath was taken and shared all over social media. 1. Dead Bodies 16 dead bodies were scattered all over the highway in June of 2012 when a pickup truck rolled over on its side in China. The bodies belonged to executed criminals and others who were unclaimed by family or friends and were being transported to a medical college to be worked on by students.. Prior to the incident, the medical school had been criticized for their undignified treatment of corpses. No kidding, Gene Wilder’s Dr. Frankenstein could have done a better job of transporting the cadavers.
